If you are looking for an adventure and relaxing honeymoon, I have the honeymoon for you! What about Kayaking? You would be able to explore new places while taking  your time paddling down rivers. There are a ton of rivers that run though the metropolitan areas of cities. Some run right through major cities. Here is a list of different places to kayak.

Chattanooga, Tennessee

Paddling down the Tennessee River, you will be seeing the city’s riverfront. You will pass Coolidge Park, Ross’s Landing, Bluff View Arts District and the Aquarium. You may also be able to watch people climb on the rock wall, at the Walnut Street Bridge. This river is a little changeling due to the different water levels and strong currents.

Michigan has some amazing seasons! You can chose to kayak down the rivers in the fall to see the changing colors of the trees and leaves or wait until the summer when all the flowers and trees are in full bloom, either way its a beautiful sight to the eye. If you start at Delhi Metropark, it is a two and a half our easy paddle downstream. You will glide under an old railroad bridge and have peaks of the University of Michigan campus. If you are a nature lover make a stop at Barton Pond, you can get to the nature area from there.

Chicago, Illinois

Chicago is more of  gliding past skyscrapers than looking at nature while your on your float down. There is a three hour trip down the Chicago River, while you sit back and view some of the most amazing designed buildings in America’s History. Kayak Chicago has some great tours, you can paddle out at night to Navy Pier to see the fireworks or a city lights paddle, where you can glide across the city-line and look at all the lights the city has to offer.

Boston, Massachusetts

Take a nice relaxing journey down the Charles River. Along the way you will tour past Harvard and Boston University campuses. When you need a break be sure to make your stop at Boston University Bridge at Magazine Beach. On the Lower Basin, you will past buildings like the Prudential and Hancock buildings, MIT and riverside parks.

Upper Michigan (Not the U.P)

I am a Michigan native and I think a few rivers should be added to this list, due to their beauty and amazing wild life. These rivers do run through some cute and little towns, with great shopping and great cuisine. The Manistee River is a wider and deeper river, some spots on the river have a strong currant. While paddling you will see animal life all along the bends of the river. Its a perfect river to fish salmon and steelhead, as well as trout, small bass and walleye. The AuSable River is a national scenic river. This is a very large river, from Mio to Alcona Pond its 23 miles. If you are looking for a longer trip, that is no problem either. From Grayling to Alcona Dam its a 65 mile stretch.
